The key to learning

The key to learning – is to find the key

At the core of every discipline is a huge body of knowledge, every subject matter is broad and deep in its own right. Every skill takes a life time to master. How does one learn effectively and efficiently? The key to learning is to find the key to these subjects. How to find the key to the knowledge? Well, there are many ways. Some will go by the short cut. But are there any short cuts to learning really? The short cut is to find the right key.

Many people will tell you, it is about talents, interest, passion, hard working, persistence, self discipline, perseverance, determination, will, finding the right teacher or master. Whatever it is, it is about finding the right key to the body of knowledge (or skills as the case may be). Unfortunately it may take a life time to find the right key. I said unfortunate because much time is wasted, to succeed in the knowledge one professes.

Some guiding principles will help in the pursuit of the key to knowledge. As always, self reflection will help. Am I in the right track? Are there better ways of doing or learning it? Check your progress at certain milestones.

I like this article, James. I'm still a little fuzzy about where these keys are located, but I'm getting there. Cheers, my friend!

Thanks Terence. I haven't quite completed the article. The point I want to make is, sometimes it takes a lifetime to find that key, sometimes by a stroke of luck or talent, you got the key. The key point is, to find the key. Because once you found it, the door of knowledge is opened. It becomes a playground of yours.
